History

In 2004, six drag/custom car enthusiasts united in a common goal; 'To bring back to the glory days of the Hot Rod and Drag Racing shows, enjoyed at London's Alexandra Palace in the 70's'. In 2004, 'Xtreme Wheels' was born, a show that would go on to be a huge success in the Capital for 3 years. The unique thing about these events was that it bought together a number of genre of vehicles, whilst staying true to the original vision. The 'Xtreme Wheels' title, meant that the Drag and Custom & American guys, could sit comfortably along side the new breed of custom creators; the Modified fraternity. With Santa Pod Raceway already recognising their significance through an increase of such vehicles at their RWYB events (Run What You Brung), Xtreme Wheels was quick to embrace anything front wheel drive as shows such as Max Power were attracting huge audiences. If an event could bring the traditional hot rodders and the new breed together, surely it was a recipe for success?

By 2006, Xtreme Wheels had international vehicles in attendance and 13,000 people through the door. The show was attracting major media attention and it looked like the vision had been successfully realised.

Shortly after the 06 show, the main man behind the vision; Terry Gibbs, sadly passed away. This was obviously a huge shock to all involved and the Drag and Hot Rod world. This meant that the 2006 show was the last and the whole event was parked for three years.

This was all to change in 2009 when original co-founders; Bob Glassup and Dan Welberry met up in Dan's office to discuss something completely different. As the conversation turned into recollection of those great Ali Pali events, both realised that there was unfinished business there and that both still had a hunger to see the hard work continue.

This stroll down memory lane has resulted in a new show for 2010; the 'Xtreme Wheels Motor Show'.

Terry Gibbs

Terry Gibbs was one of the original founders of Xtreme Wheels. He shocked us all with his passing on March 20th, 2006, shortly after the 06 show. The event would not have been achieved without the vision and drive of Terry, who gave so much to the drag racing and custom car scene. We'd like to thank Tina Gibbs for giving us her blessing to continue under the 'Xtreme Wheels' banner.
